Sierra Industries: setting the standard for aviation excellence
Before we became the recognized leader in Cessna Citation aircraft performance enhancement modifications, Sierra Industries was a small start-up in the idyllic south central Texas community of Uvalde. We opened our doors in 1983 as a flight operations and aircraft maintenance center with a passion for planes, and it didn’t take long for business to take off under the forward-thinking leadership of President Mark Huffstutler.
Into the stratosphere
Our humble start, with 10 employees and 11,000 square feet of hangar space, gave way to the world’s largest Citation aircraft modification center. Our love for our craft helped us grow into an operation that features 90,000 square feet of hangar and office space and more than 80 experts in modifications, maintenance, quality assurance and logistics.
Within just a few years in business, we received FAA approval for a number of performance-enhancing modifications for single- and twin-engine aircraft. In 1986, Sierra obtained the rights to produce our signature Eagle and Longwing modifications for certain models of Cessna Citation jets. After that came a full line of performance, safety and avionics upgrades for the Citation and for smaller piston aircraft. In rapid succession, our catalog of aircraft enhancements ballooned from five products to more than 300, all of which are approved by the FAA.
Much more than modifications and planes for sale
After three decades of passionate work and booming business, we’ve cemented ourselves as the world’s authority on the legacy Cessna Citation — the world’s most popular business jet. But our expertise isn’t the only reason so many people from across the globe come to us. We have a lot more to offer: Located in Uvalde, Texas, 90 miles west of San Antonio on the edge of the Hill Country, Sierra is at the intersection of hunters’ paradise — a perfect place to spend time while your plane is being serviced. We also feature a lineup of classic Warbirds (link to Warbirds page), and we’d be happy to take you for a spin. In short, our hospitality is world class.
