The Sierra R/STOL aircraft modification permits slow approaches with sharp, crisp control at slow speeds, giving you more decision time for corrections and confident handling in crosswinds and gusts. Retain control and reduce the chance of stalling even with the power off. Lower landing speeds also reduce wear and tear on your brakes and tires. By the numbers, the R/STOL system allows slower approaches by up to 25 mph and requires up to 40 percent less room on the runway.

Drooped Leading edge for smoother airflow

Cessna has incorporated a drooped leading edge on many of the models it has built since 1972. Sierra’s R/STOL brings that to your piston plane, smoothing airflow over the wing, particularly at high angles of attack. The drooped leading edge aircraft modification also postpones wing stall and lessens its impact when it occurs.

A chord-wise fence installed on the upper wing surface restricts outboard movement of low-speed air that develops at the wing root when a stall begins. By maintaining a smooth, unstalled airflow over the ailerons, full and responsive control remains in your hands even well into the stall.

Automatic trim boosts pilot and aircraft performance

The patented R/STOL System links the stabilizer to the flaps to relieve the pilot from frequent retrimming as the flaps are lowered. This automatic trim operation eliminates one pilot activity during landing approach or after takeoff — maximizing crucial situational awareness.

Drooped ailerons enhances your control
Our aircraft modification package also droops the ailerons symmetrically whenever the flaps are extended. In their drooped position, the ailerons increase outboard wing lift by recambering airflow as the flaps do for the inboard wing section. That means that full aileron roll control response is maintained in the drooped position.
